The Somali -American Community in the Greater Washington, DC. Metro welcomes the peace deal signed in Djibouti between the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia and the opposition Alliance.

We appreciate and commend the efforts of Ahmedou Ould
Abdallah, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG), the international community and the Government of Djibouti for their contributions to this historical agreement.

We believe this is an important first step towards an all-inclusive political process and lasting peace and stability in Somalia. We encourage all Somalis inside and outside of the country to respect the peace agreement and give it a chance for its implementation.
